Trademark Registration

A registered mark is the only version of your brand the law will defend. Filed with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism under Federal Decree-Law 36 of 2021.

Back to Services

A trade licence gives you the right to trade under a name. It does not give you the right to stop anyone else using it. That is what a registered trademark does, and in the UAE it is governed by Federal Decree-Law 36 of 2021 and filed with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism. The application is not the hard part. Classification is. A mark is registered against specific classes of goods and services, and a mark registered in the wrong class protects nothing you actually sell. We search first, classify against what you trade rather than what you plan to trade one day, and file against the classes that matter. The ministry publishes its own fee schedule, so you know the official cost before you start.

Abstract geometric line drawing: a fine square frame enclosing a smaller offset square, with a registration tick mark in teal at the upper corner, gold hairlines on dark navy.

Key Features

  • Availability search before filing, because an application against an existing mark loses the examination fee and the time with it
  • Classification set against the goods and services you actually sell, since protection runs class by class and not across your whole business
  • Filed with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, which states the official fees as AED 750 for examination, AED 750 for publication in the bulletin and AED 5,000 for registration, with expedited one day examination at AED 2,250
  • The timeline held: the ministry notifies its decision within 20 working days, the bulletin opens a 30 day objection window, and the certificate issues within 30 days of that window closing
  • You supply the mark as a JPEG image, your trade licence, and a certified and notarised power of attorney where we file as your registered agent, which is what the ministry asks for

Benefits for Your Business

  • A mark you can actually enforce, rather than a trade name that only stops the same name being licensed again.
  • Classes chosen against your real catalogue, so the protection covers what you sell.
  • Official fees stated up front from the ministry schedule, separate from our own fee.
  • The objection window watched, and the registration fee paid on time, since late payment carries its own charge under the same schedule.
General information, not legal advice. The governing law, the official fees and the published timeframes above were read on the Ministry of Economy and Tourism trademark service on 16 September 2026. Official fees and procedures are set by the ministry and change, and we confirm the current schedule before you commit.
