E-Commerce License

Abstract geometric line drawing: an inverted stepped pyramid of eight tiers narrowing downward to a small teal square at its base, gold hairlines on dark navy.

Selling online from the UAE is a licensed activity, and a store that trades without one is exposed at exactly the moment it starts to work: when a payment provider, a marketplace or a bank asks what it is looking at. The license is only the first half. An online business also needs a payment gateway that will underwrite it, a customs registration if goods cross the border, and a clear answer on where its tax obligations begin. We select the activity that matches how you actually sell, whether that is your own store, a marketplace seller account, dropshipping or social selling, then take the file through to the point where you can take a payment. Free zone and mainland routes both work here and they are not equivalent, so we choose between them against your fulfilment model.

Key Features

  • Activity matched to your selling model, since an own store, a marketplace seller account, dropshipping and social selling are not the same activity on a license
  • Free zone or mainland decided against how your goods are fulfilled and where your customers are, not by default
  • License issue, establishment card and the trade name cleared for use on the storefront and the payment page
  • Payment gateway application supported with the documents providers actually underwrite against, and customs code registration where you import or export physical goods
  • You supply your store or product URL, how you fulfil orders, your suppliers, and your expected markets, which is what decides both the activity and the jurisdiction

Benefits for Your Business

  • A store that can be onboarded by a payment provider and a bank, rather than one that stalls at the compliance question.
  • Activity written to cover how you sell today and how you intend to sell next, so the license does not need reissuing.
  • Customs registration handled alongside the license where you move physical goods, instead of discovered at the first shipment.
  • A direct line into the VAT and corporate tax question, since cross border selling is where UAE sellers most often get the tax position wrong.

General information, not legal or tax advice. E-commerce activity definitions, the approvals a storefront needs and all official fees are set by the licensing authority and change from time to time. Payment gateway acceptance is the provider's decision, not ours. We confirm the current position for your model before you commit.
